Murrayville officially became a club in 1970/71 and joined the Mallee International Rules Basketball Association, along with Pinnaroo, Lameroo and Parilla. All matches at the time were played at Pinnaroo and in the 1972/73 season, the MBC raised funds to equip their own courts and install lights.

Rachael Sporn commenced playing at the age of nine in 1977 and continued to play for Murrayville until 1986 when she moved to Adelaide. She has gone onto represent Australia as a member of the 'Opals' at the 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympic Games, winning a bronze and two medals respectively.

The Murrayville Basketball Club still fields a ladies and gent's team in the association, called the 'Allstars' and have achieved many premierships over the years.
